We want to be an inclusive space, and are committed to making a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for any gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, religion (or not) and socioeconomic status.
This code of conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our community, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behaviour.
We invite all those who participate at BridgeCom to help us create safe and positive experiences for everyone.
Expected Behaviour
Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community helping it to grow.
Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions around others.
Attempt collaboration before conflict.
Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour and speech.
Refrain from any activities that may put yourself or others in danger.
Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert Leads or Rangers if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.
Unnacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community. The list is not exhaustive and any other behaviours which are deemed harmful, disrespectful or inappropriate will be dealt with by the BridgeCom event organisers.
Violence, threats of violence or violent language directed against another person.
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableism or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.
Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
Inappropriate photography or recordings. Ask before taking photos or videos of people, especially if in a state of undress. People might feel fine expressing themselves at BridgeCom in certain aspects but probably do not want photographic evidence of such making its way out into the default world.
Driving a vehicle under the influence. Drivers found attempting to leave the site under the influence of any intoxicating or mind altering substances will be dealt with seriously as a deliberate risk to safety and, at the discretion of the event organisers, be escorted off premises elsehow.
Inappropriate physical contact. You should have someone’s consent before touching them.
Unwelcome sexual attention. This includes, sexualized comments or jokes; inappropriate touching, groping, and unwelcome sexual advances.
Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following (online or in person). If you harass someone at an event you will be asked to leave.
Anyone found to be trolling or harassing members of our community online will be removed from any social media account by moderators.
Sustained disruption of community events, including talks, workshops or presentations, will result in members being asked to leave.
Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour is unacceptable.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour
Unacceptable behaviour from any member of the BridgeCom community, including those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. If a community member engages in unacceptable behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, this may range from being asked to leave an event up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from future events without warning. Note that any money given towards the event is on a donation basis, and will not be refunded.
No Photos
BridgeCom is a safe space for freedom of expression, on this basis we ask that no photos be taken without the express consent of those involved. Note that a small number of pictures may be taken by the event organisers for use in promoting future BridgeCom events, where possible these will not contain any identifying features and permission will be sought before these are published.
Fire Zones
Please ensure you don’t start any fires!
...unless you are fire lead or have their permission - if you think you’ll want to get involved with the fires, contact us at info@bridgecom.uk and we can make that happen! We hope to have an effigy burn, where we expect everyone to comply with the requests of the fire lead. We may well have some fire pits, please act responsibly around these.
We want everyone to have a fun and safe BridgeCom!
Illegal Activity
BridgeCom is its own space, where we encourage people to enjoy themselves, however it still exists as a bubble in the default world, and so the law still applies. Please don’t break the law.
Vegan Site
The wonderful hosts of our site are clear that this should be a plant based event, please respect their wishes and don’t bring any dairy/animal products on site. If you want to know more please contact us 🙂
Guests
Unnamed guests will not be allowed access to the event site. Every person must register for their own ticket or they will not be allowed entry to the site. This helps keep everyone safe and helps us make sure we are planning for the correct number of attendees.
